ORTH 709CB Rural Orthopaedics - South Coast Credits: 4 The purpose of the Rural Orthopedic Surgery elective is for students to gain experience and proficiency in the care of patients with musculoskeletal trauma and disease. Students will participate in the preoperative evaluation, operative management, and postoperative care of these patients. Students will provide consultation in the emergency department, hospital wards, and outpatient clinics. Students will learn basic operative and non-operative management of a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions, while gaining an appreciation of the unique challenges faced by rural practitioners. This elective is for students who are interested in Orthopaedics.
Graded: Pass/No pass May be taken only once for credit
