SURG 709M Rural General Surg- Gold Beach


Credits: 6
Students will have exposure to a rural general surgery practice and identify the important issues involved in being a rural surgeon (that differ from practicing in a tertiary referral center). Student will develop a higher level of comfort evaluating, diagnosing, and treating surgical patients. The majority of the time will be spent in General Surgery, but they will also have exposure to the broad spectrum of rural surgery procedures. They will evaluate patients in both inpatient and outpatient setting, have hands on experience with minor office procedures and assist in the operating room.
