NRS 410 Population Health Practice


Credits: 9
This course prepares nurses in the practice of community and population health. Community and population health are examined as a synthesis of knowledge from nursing, public health, the social sciences and epidemiology, with the aim of promoting community capacity and health equity. Students apply population health principles to address social and structural drivers of health. Students analyze prevalent population health issues and participate with the community as client to promote evidence-based, culturally sensitive population-level interventions. Frameworks of community and public health are examined, and community assessments are conducted using a systems approach that recognizes community strengths and embraces diversity of the population.
