EPI 629 Doctoral Seminar in Causal Inference Methods Credits: 3 This advanced, doctoral-level course builds upon students’ prior training in quantitative methods and frameworks for causation and provides deeper conceptual and practical training in the most prominent causal approach in modern public health: counterfactual causal inference (CFCI). This course clarifies common misconceptions and emphasizes the philosophical and theoretical basis of CFCI, and other important topics in modern causality (including graphical and “quasi-experimental” methods). Specific analytical methods are introduced (e.g., propensity scores, gmethods), with an emphasis on aligning them to the right questions and practical implementation (including code). Students will engage with CFCI concepts and methods across multiple formats including lecture, activities, applied labs, and discussion.
Graded: A-F May be taken only once for credit
