ESHH 521 Occupational Health

Occupational Health students will learn about the current Total Worker Health approach to creating safe and healthful work environments, focusing on workplace hazards and the methods and strategies for their elimination or control. Topics are expected to include occupational health professions, evaluation of hazards and the hierarchy of controls, chemical and physical hazards, psychosocial issues, shift work, workers’ compensation and health care, global and emerging issues, special and priority populations (guided by faculty research and student interest), contingent and informal working populations, and workplace interventions (e.g., policy, organizational systems, engineering, job design, ergonomics, leadership, selection and training, and behavior change).
