PHC 721 General Pharmacology Credits: 4 This course covers the fundamentals of pharmacology and general principles that guide the use of pharmaceutical agents. It focuses on how drugs affect, and are affected by, the human body. The general principles are applied to three areas of pharmacology that are highly relevant to dental patients or the dental practice itself:
- cardiovascular drugs,
- agents that affect hemostasis, and
- control of pain.
The course structure offers small group discussions of clinical case-based problems that integrate knowledge of pharmacology with other biomedical and clinical sciences. The goal is to help develop the skills needed to gather and critically evaluate evidence when planning treatment of dental patients.
Graded: Pass/No pass May be taken only once for credit
