BMI 662 Quantitative Research Methods Credits: 3 This course reviews a variety of study designs used in biomedical informatics and outcomes research. These include experimental designs (completely randomized designs, randomized block designs, nested designs, two-way factorial designs, crossover designs, and repeated measures models), observational study designs (cohort designs, case/control designs, cross-sectional designs) and prediction designs (with both linear and logistic regression approaches). For each study design, appropriate statistical analyses and use of statistical software (SPSS) will also be covered. Estimation of statistical power and required sample sizes for various study designs will be discussed.
Graded: A-F May be taken only once for credit Also offered as: BMI 562
