BMSC 661 Structure & Function of Biological Molecules Credits: 3 This course is designed to provide students with an in depth understanding of macromolecular structure/function including:
- protein structure;
- thermodynamic considerations of protein folding;
- nucleic acid structure and topology;
- the functions of proteins as enzymes and in macromolecular assembly, including quantitative analyses of ligand binding phenomena and enzyme kinetics;
- structural and biochemical properties of lipids, membrane assembly and dynamics, and characteristics of membrane proteins;
- the principles of bioenergetics and metabolism.
Graded: A-F May be taken only once for credit
