BMSC 661 Structure & Function of Biological Molecules

This course is designed to provide students with an in depth understanding of macromolecular structure/function including:

protein structure;
thermodynamic considerations of protein folding;
nucleic acid structure and topology;
the functions of proteins as enzymes and in macromolecular assembly, including quantitative analyses of ligand binding phenomena and enzyme kinetics;
structural and biochemical properties of lipids, membrane assembly and dynamics, and characteristics of membrane proteins;
the principles of bioenergetics and metabolism.
