PAST 540 Emergent & Surgical Medicine Credits: 2 This course revisits medical and behavioral disorders from the surgical and emergent perspectives and prepares students to recognize various surgical and emergent disease processes and their management. Foundational patient care information unique to these settings is presented, and students are exposed to the PA role. At the end of this course students will have a broad understanding surgical and emergent disorders common to medical practice and will be prepared to take an ACLS course and the skills-based course Applied Clinical Skills, offered during the Transition to the Clinical Year. Course content may be delivered in a variety of methods, and may include assigned reading material, virtual sessions, video recordings, and/or in-person lectures.
Graded: Pass/No pass May be taken only once for credit
