EMED 709CB Rural Emergency Medicine - Coos Bay Credits: 4 This four-week clinical rotation provides medical students with hands-on experience in rural emergency medicine. Students will work alongside emergency physicians in a rural hospital setting, managing a broad range of acute medical conditions with limited on-site specialty support. The rotation emphasizes clinical decision-making, procedural skills, and interprofessional collaboration in an environment where access to care may be constrained by geography and infrastructure. Students will gain exposure to a broad range of medical emergencies, trauma stabilization, and issues unique to rural settings (including structural and social determinants of health), while developing their adaptability, autonomy, and appreciation for rural health systems.
Graded: Pass/No pass May be taken only once for credit
