FAMP 709AB Family Medicine Inpatient Credits: 4 The purpose of the Family Medicine Inpatient Elective is for students to develop clinical diagnosis, reasoning and communication skills in the care of adult, pediatric and potentially obstetric patients with a wide range of acute, chronic, and multi-organ system disease in the inpatient hospital setting. Students will be able to use their knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to perform basic history and physical examinations, develop differential diagnoses, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and devise basic treatment plans. On the Family Medicine service, students will learn how access, continuity, care coordination, and psychosocial factors affect the health of individuals and families and learn how to apply these factors to the care of individuals in the inpatient setting.
Graded: Pass/No pass May be taken only once for credit
