GSTR 710A Gastroenterology Consult-OHSU Credits: 2 Students learn an integrated approach to the diagnosis and therapy of gastroenterology diseases with emphasis on pathophysiology and exposure to the utility and application of the various diagnostic therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Problems commonly seen include diagnosis/treatment of GI bleeding, abdominal pain, peptic ulcer disease, gastrointestinal tumors, pancreatitis, chronic liver disease and inflammatory bowel disease. Students see approximately two inpatient consults per day and in addition to other consultations seen as emergencies or in the weekly Tuesday GI clinic. No night call responsibilities. Conferences include Grand Rounds, GI Medical Surgical Conference, GI Pathology Conference, Hematology/Biliary Conference, and GI Research Conference. Students work with a team of medical resident, GI fellow and GI Attending. Evaluation is by observed clinical performance.
