HEMA 709B Acting Intern - Leukemia/Lymphoma & Cellular Therapy (LLCT) Credits: 6 Provides exposure to advanced internal medicine and complex immunobiology within the transplant and cellular therapy services. Internal medicine topics include management of neutropenic fever, infection management/guidelines for prophylaxis, complications/toxicity of chemotherapy, end-of-life care/palliative medicine, clinical trial enrollment/consent/adherence, and advanced transplant/cellular therapy topics including graft vs host disease, cytokine release syndrome, and immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome. As an acting intern, students will be encouraged to carry 3-4 patients per day and will place orders and pend them to the attending physician. The rotation offers opportunities to build longer-term relationships with patients and families.
